ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY Assistant Professor/Assistant Clinical Professor of Mental Health Nursing ABOUT THIS POSITION Summary: Colorado Mesa University is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor of Nursing/Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing in Mental Health.
This position has ongoing responsibility for curriculum development, planning, teaching, guiding, monitoring, and evaluating student learning in the classroom and practice setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching and advising in department instructional program.
Supervise students' performance of clinical skills in the lab and/or clinical setting.
The clinical faculty/clinical scholar to student ratio is not more than 1:10.
Development and maintenance of active scholarship agenda if a tenure-track Assistant Professor or active professional productivity to maintain clinical expertise if Assistant Clinical Professor.
Actively participating in faculty meetings and committees reflecting professional contributions to share governance.
Maintenance of good rapport with cooperating health facilities, other faculty, administration, and students.
Evaluation of efficiency and appropriateness of teaching methods through established evaluation approaches.
Timely and satisfactory performance of responsibilities specified in the faculty member's employment contract and CMU Faculty Handbook.
Teaching of assigned classes.
Presenting to all students attending class, in writing and within the time span established by departmental policy, a course description, policies, and grading criteria.
Establishing such procedures as are necessary to assure that adequate and accurate records of student performance are maintained.
Establishing, posting, and keeping a minimum of five office hours weekly during each academic term of the academic year.
The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; some assigned courses may be taught on-line, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities.
Scholarship/professional productivity in the discipline, involvement with advising, and service to the department and the university are expected.
Required Qualifications: A current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Colorado.
A minimum of 2 years of full-time professional nursing mental health clinical experience or equivalent.
Graduate degree in nursing and bachelor's degree in nursing must be from a nursing education program with national nursing accreditation.
Documented knowledge and skills related to the teaching of adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development and evaluation; or a written plan for obtaining such knowledge.
Acquisition of these skills must begin no later than during the first year of teaching.
